Norwegian is cancelling flights to Miami (FLL) from BCN and MAD

Norwegian Air is cancelling its flights to Miami (FLL) from Spanish airports of Madrid (MAD) and Barcelona (BCN).

Norwegian sent out an email on 26th of September to their passengers who bought tickets to Miami from Madrid or Barcelona, advising them that they are cancelling these routes from the 1st of November.

No reason for the cancellation was given in the email, but according to Spanish newspaper El Pais, this is due to the issues the airline is having with their planes’ Rolls Royce Engines. According to the newspaper, Norwegian has insisted that other airlines (in particular Iberia) had similar problems. For this reason, low-coster has been forced to “put these routes on hold” during the winter season.

In the meantime Norwegian rebooking their Spanish-based passengers heading to Miami, by re-routing them via one of their Scandinavian hubs (i.e. CPH).

For now Norwegian’s BCN-FLL booking page looks quite sad…

Let’s hope they will resolve these engine issues soon! I quite like Norwegian and IMHO it’s the best low-coster in the world.

Are you one of the affected flyers? What’s your experience of travelling with Norwegian? Please share in the comments!
